KANNUR: The Kerala Karshaka Union (KKU) has termed the allegations of corruption against Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph as an attempt to tarnish the image of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government. KKU State president Jose Chemberi said in a press release here on Sunday that the Congress leadership in the State was levelling `baseless' charges against Mr. Joseph to divert the attention of people from the defeat of the Congress-led United Democratic Front in the Assembly elections. If there had been irregularities in the Kerala State Housing Board during the previous LDF Government's term, as alleged by the Congress leadership, former Revenue Minister K.K. Mani, who controlled the Housing Board later, would have used them against his political rival Mr. Joseph, he said.
