Woman killed in elephant attack in Kodagu

MADIKERI: A woman was killed and three were injured after they were attacked by a wild tusker at Kattepura in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu on Sunday, according to information gathered by The Hindu .

The deceased was identified as Jayamma (55) who hailed from Purabhyravanahalli in Hassan. The three others from the same village, Vanajaskhi (38) Shobha (29) and Ashwini (16) were admitted to the Hassan District Hospital. They came to Konaganahalli from Purabhyravanahalli on the Kodagu-Hassan border on Saturday to perform puja at the Durgamba temple in Konaganahalli. Jayamma, who was critically injured, died in hospital.

The same elephant is reported to have killed another woman at Magalu village on the Kodagu-Hassan border last week.
