Software competition

The Computer Society of India (CSI), a 40-year old body of computer professionals is a member of SEARCC (South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation).

Other member countries of SEARCC are, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand. SEARCC was formed in 1978. SEARCC at the National convention every year organizes a Software competition for school students below 17 years of age to encourage, recognise and reward software computer skills at school level.

Over the years CSI has been sending teams to participate in the SEARCC competition, held in one of the member countries in rotation.

Several of the teams from India have won the competition in the past. In 2006, SEARCC Software Competition is scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from September 13-16.

The CSI, National Headquarters, Chennai, will process application and select teams from India. Students may register before June 21.
