Kakinada: The District Review Committee (DRC) meeting chaired by in charge Minister Sabitha Reddy held here on Sunday witnessed heated exchanges over non-observance of protocol by the authorities in organising of functions. Thota Gopalakrishna, MLA Peddapuram, complained that the RWS engineers ignored him while organising the foundation stone laying function for the protected water supply scheme at G. Medapadu village that forms part of his constituency. Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallamraju was the chief guest then. He was sore with the action of the RWS engineers and even threatened to take up the matter with the Assembly Privilege committee. The proceedings of the DRC meet were paralysed with the MLA insisting that action be taken against RWS officials. Roads and Buildings Minister Jakkampudi Ramamohana Rao intervened and assured the MLA that similar incidents would not recur. At his instance Collector M. Subrahmanyam agreed to issue general instructions to all the officials not to organise any function without the involvement of the MLAs concerned.
