GULBARGA: General secretary of the State unit of the BJP Arvind Limbavali on Sunday said that the party high command had convened a meeting of senior leaders in New Delhi after June 17 to discuss the party affairs in Karnataka. Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Limbavali said the party leadership had indicated that the proposed meeting would be held after the elections to the Legislative Council from the Graduates and Teachers constituencies in the State and directed party leaders not to air their grievances through press till then. He said that the meeting would discuss the issues raised by party MP Basanagouda Patil R. Yatnal, contents of the report submitted by chairman of the Disciplinary Committee "Mukhyamantri" Chandru and the reports appearing in the press about the affairs in the party. Party observers who held discussions with leaders in Karnataka would also place their views at the meeting. Mr. Limbavali said that apart from discussing the differences among leaders and bridging the gap, the party leadership would also work out the modalities to bring about coordination between the party and the Government. He pointed out that Mr. Yatnal had already expressed regrets for airing his views in public. To a question on the status of Mr. Chandru in the party, he said Mr. Chandru continued to be the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the State unit and he had withdrawn his resignation as per the advice of the State unit president Sadananda Gowda and Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar. Technically, he said, Mr. Chandru continued to be chairman of the committee as Mr. Sadananda Gowda had not reconstituted the party after taking charge. Mr. Limbavali denied charges that general secretary of the party H.N. Ananth Kumar was behind the dissident activities in the State unit and pointed out that there was no such activity and only differences of opinion among a few leaders, which would be ironed out soon. He referred to the role played by Mr. Ananth Kumar in the formation of the Janata Dal (S)-BJP Government in the State.
