JAIPUR: Farmers in 30 weather stations in six districts of Rajasthan are being offered a weather insurance policy by IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Company Ltd (ITGI). "Barish Bima Yogna" (BBY) provides insurance cover to farmers against damage to crops due to deficiency in rainfall. The cover is available in the districts of Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur, Hanumangarh, Chittorgarh and Sriganganagar. The launch of BBY here the other day was attended by Surinder Kumar Jakhar, IFFCO Chairman, Surendrapal Singh TT, Rajasthan Minister of State for Agriculture, K. Srinivas Gowda, ITGI Chairman, and one thousand farmers. "BBY aims to secure the livelihoods of Indian farmers by reducing the risk of uncertainties arising from the dependence on weather," Mr. Gowda said on the occasion.
