Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Tuesday in parts of Alandur SS and Dasarathapuram from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance.

Health camp

Around 160 persons were screened at a health camp organised by Hindu Mission Hospital, Tambaram at Ottiyambakkam on Sunday. A team of seven doctors treated patients for specialties including dental and paediatrics. Ten persons were referred for eye surgery, and two for other operations.

Eye check up

Nearly 300 people were screened for various eye problems at a camp organised by Rajan Eye Care Hospital on Friday. The camp was conducted in association with Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital, Mumbai and Indian Penpal's League, Mumbai. Seventy-two patients were referred for cataract surgery, 40 persons were given spectacles.

Yoga course

A free three-month yoga course for beginners on asanas, pranayama and meditation has been started by Satyavratananda from Sunday at Samskrita Bharati, 5, 7th Street, Radhakrishnan Salai, Mylapore. The course is conducted from 7 to 8.30 a.m. on every Sunday. For details, contact 2432 8087.

Air Force institute anniversary

Mechanical Transport Training Institute, Air Force Station, Avadi celebrated its 28th anniversary on Saturday. The programme was marked by several cultural events such as dance and skit by the trainees of the institute. Air Commodore Ashok Kumar, participated.

New Rotary club president

Babu Peram has taken over as president of Rotary Club of Chennai Presidency at a meeting held on Friday. The Club also distributed uniforms to 50 students, tricycles to handicapped persons and certificates and cash awards to toppers in Plus-Two of Saidapet Model Higher Secondary School on the same day.

Career guidance

A career guidance programme will be offered by Roots and Wings for students of X, XII and Plus-Two. Counselling will be given to the students based on their reports. Class X results

Press Information Bureau in Chennai has made arrangements to issue free printouts of results of Tamil Nadu SSLC, OSLC, Matriculation and AISLC public examinations that will be released on Monday.

In a press release issued on Sunday, the Bureau said the tabulated marks, as appearing on the websites, will be downloaded and their laser printouts will be distributed to students and parents. Those who are interested can get the service at the PIB office in Sastri Bhavan on Haddows Road, Nungambakkam from

9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

It added that PIB has also made arrangements for on the spot counselling for students on vocational courses available in recognised institutions.
