CHENNAI : A 35-year-old man was attacked by two unidentified persons, near a cinema hall on Anna Salai, on Sunday. Police said the victim, Ramajayam of Sivaganga district, was walking near the cinema hall round 11.30 a.m., when he was attacked by two persons with a sword. He sustained injuries to his head, hand as well as stomach. The man was admitted to the Government General hospital for treatment. Two special parties have been formed to nab the assailants, police added.
Boy commits suicide
An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide on Saturday after he came to know that he would not get admission in a college with his marks. Police identified the teenaged boy as Mayura. Police said the boy, a resident of Vellalar Street had passed Plus Two. When he applied for a B.Com course, he realised that his marks were unlikely to fetch him a seat in a college. Disappointed by this inability the boy hung himself in one of the rooms in his residence. The incident came to light around 7.30 p.m. The boy's mother rushed him to the Government General Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the authorities. Vepery police are investigating.
