Restore display boards

Sir, — The Kempegowda bus station in Bangalore once had green display boards indicating the platform numbers, destinations, and route numbers of buses plying between various destinations. Of late, the boards have been removed, and the details are displayed on the sides of the platforms, causing inconvenience to people. I request the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation authorities to install display boards with all details at the earliest.

Use public transport

Sir, — Politicians and bureaucrats often announce projects, allocations and schemes away from the State capital. Sometimes, they undertake journeys to call on accident victims or to visit a crime scene.

It will be of immense help to people if, during such instances, those at the helm of affairs opt for the common man's mode of transport to reach their destination.

A second-class train journey or a trip by bus on a pothole-ridden road would give them an idea of what people suffer every day. Will more Ministers, corporators and MLAs opt for public transport to reach their destination?

Reservation office

Sir, — The five railway reservation counters at Malleswaram are overcrowded. It is suggested that the authorities open a reservation office at Vyalikaval, which would meet the needs of the residents of the locality and those in Upper Orchards, Guttahalli, Kottandarampuram and Gayathri Devi Park Extension.

Buses sought

Sir, — Residents of Shampura and K.R. Bande area are entirely dependent on BMTC buses for their day-to-day travel. There are no direct buses to Ganganagar, Mehkri Circle, Kaveri Cinema and Sankey Road, and people are forced to take three buses to reach these places.

I request the BMTC to introduce bus services to different destinations via the areas mentioned.
