Films and the youth

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Bollywood movies continue to influence the young, for both good and bad. But some Hollywood films, based on books they have read, leave them a bit disappointed.

Several young people are disappointed with characters from books pictured in movies. Unlike books, the individual's imagination is not given free rein in films. "We can become a part of the novel and imagine ourselves in such situations. In the movie, the actors and locales may be totally different from those in your imagination," says Rashmi.

Many youth believe creativity takes a backseat when it comes to making a movie. A case in point they say is the Harry Potter series, which lack the captivating effect of the books. "Many who saw only the movie have started imagining Harry Potter looks like Daniel Radcliff," Ms. Rashmi points out.
