Government urged to release salaries of 1,070 teachers

Bangalore: The Bangalore University College Teachers' Association has urged the Government to release the salaries of the 1,070 teachers of the bifurcated pre-university colleges.

The salaries have been withheld for the past four months, according to a press release here on Sunday.

The association said a memorandum in this regard had been submitted to the Principal Secretary, Department of Higher Education.

The association claimed that the 1,070 teachers, who were on deputation to pre-university colleges, were facing problems because of the non-release of salaries.

Even after bifurcation of the teaching staff deployed to pre-university colleges, the Department of Collegiate Education was releasing salaries.

This was despite the fact that the Government had earmarked funds in the budget for the release of salaries to the deputed staff to the Pre-University Department, the release said.
