BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday said the Government would find a permanent solution to the problems being faced bythose who had built houses on revenue sites on the outskirts of the city. Speaking after inaugurating the renovated Banaswadi Police Station here, Mr. Kumaraswamy said many land developers had formed layouts on revenue land without getting them converted for non-revenue purposes. Sites had been formed without providing basic amenities such as proper roads, drains, water and electricity, Mr. Kumaraswamy said. The Government was aware of the problems being faced by purchasers of such sites, especially in Varthur and Uttarahalli Assembly constituencies, the Chief Minister noted and promised to take steps to mitigate them. The Government would also strive to provide infrastructure such as roads and flyovers wherever necessary, he added in response to a plea by Varthur MLA A. Krishnappa. Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Government was serious in implementing the Rs. 340-crore project for improving infrastructure in the city while exuding the confidence that all works would be in place before the onset of next monsoon. He said he was monitoring problems concerning the people personally. However, there was constraint of time, he said and added that the officials concerned should respond positively. Presiding over the function, Mr. Krishnappa urged the Chief Minister to look into the infrastructure problems being faced by residents in Varthur constituency. He said despite contributing large sums to the exchequer in the form of land registration fee, the localities had not got proper attention. Director-General and Inspector-General of Police B.S. Sial and Commissioner of Police Ajai Kumar Singh were present. The Chief Minister felicitated Assistant Commissioner of Police Lakshman and the then Banaswadi Police Inspector Siddappa. More than 150 citizens of the locality have contributed to the police station building that has come up on government land.
