BANGALORE: Residents of Bangalore who are benefiting from BangaloreOne, a government initiative which offers various Government-to-Citizen and Business-to-Citizen services, can now enjoy an additional service. The Government in association with the Ministry of External Affairs will launch a new service, "Acceptance of applications for a passport through its Integrated Citizen Service Centres''. People can now apply for fresh passport at these centres. Citizen-friendly executives at the centres will assist in filing an application for issue of a fresh passport. E. Ahamed, Minister of State for External Affairs, will inaugurate the service at the BangaloreOne centre in Malleswaram on Monday. The function will be presided over by H.D. Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister.
Five centres
Passport services shall initially be available at the following BangaloreOne centres: Malleswaram (Ph: 22955415, 22955416), Vijayanagar (Ph: 22955405, 22955406), R.T. Nagar (Ph: 22955425, 22955426), Jayanagar (Ph: 22955450, 22955451) and Airport Road (Ph: 22955440, 22955441). Application for a passport can be submitted at any of these five centres without any service charges over and above the prescribed passport fees. These five new centres are expected to reduce the need to travel long distances from one part of the city to another. According to a press release here, though BangaloreOne centres work 24 x 7 for other services, passport applications will be accepted only from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all days including holidays. Applications received at BangaloreOne centres will be sent to the Passport Office within two working days from the date of their submission. These centres will generate the file reference number and enter the personal details of the applicant into the system.
