HYDERABAD: The six rounds of fire on the Office of Director-General of Quality and Assurance at Manovikasnagar in Karkhana on Friday could have strayed, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Shika Goel said. The 9 mm bullets were either fired with a pistol or carbine from a nearby military firing range at Karkhana. One bullet hit the windowpanes. "We suspect the bullets might have come from the firing range where the new recruits were being trained," Shika Goel told reporters on Sunday.
Secure complex
She said that the office is a secured complex with main gates manned by Army personnel. Brigadier Surendar Kalwa was also present at the time of incident. According to the DCP, ballistic experts have visited and collected bullets from the spot. "Though our investigations revealed that stray bullets were fired, we are probing the case from all angles," she said, and added that a similar incident was reported at the same place a few months ago. A police official said that the bullets were fired from a distance of 600 metres.
