HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old bridegroom went missing hours before his marriage at Banjara Hills on Sunday. M.A. Imtiyaz, a private employee and resident of Syed Nagar on Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills, returned home from a barber's shop on Saturday evening. After having snacks, he left house saying he was going on some work and would return shortly. But he failed to return till Sunday evening. Relatives of the bride made all arrangements for the `nikha' (marriage). But their efforts went in vain. "We do not know the reasons behind Imtiyaz's missing. A missing case was registered based on a complaint lodged by his relative Mohammed Fayaz," Banjara Hills Inspector E. Shankar Reddy said. According to Mr. Reddy, Imtiyaz's engagement was performed two years ago. After discussing with the girl's parents, the marriage was fixed on Sunday. Meanwhile, family members said that Imtiyaz called up on Sunday and informed that he was coming on Monday.
Cheating case
The city police are on the lookout for a former film distributor who allegedly cheated people by preparing forged documents of properties that were pledged in banks and selling them. The police said that Sharma had duped many unsuspecting buyers to the tune of Rs. 1 crore. The fraud was unfolded when buyers verified documents with bank officials. A cheating case under Section 420 of IPC was registered against Sharma based on a complaint lodged by Uma Maheswar Rao and others. Inquiries revealed that Sharma, a resident of Lalithanagar near Ramnagar, had been allegedly cheating people for the last two months.
