Environment Day marathon

Thiruvananthapuram: To mark World Environment Day, hoteliers, tour operators, hospitals and educational institutions in the city are jointly organising a mini-marathon from Kowdiar Palace gate to Chandra Sekharan Nair stadium at 3 p.m. on Monday. The event is being organised to remind every person that public initiative can bring a big change in the environs where he or she live in. - Staff Reporter

Mediapersons to observe fast

Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy will inaugurate a daylong fast by journalists, newspaper employees and news agency employees demanding, among other things, the constitution of a wage board, 25 per cent interim relief and bringing visual media employees in the Working Journalists Act's purview. Thestir is being organised jointly by Kerala Union of Working Journalists and Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, Ministers and trade union leaders will speak at the programme. - Staff Reporter
