HYDERABAD: Counselling for admission into engineering colleges in the State for the current academic year will begin on July 6 and continue till August 20. Classes would begin on August 21. The Government has fixed the dates for the admission schedules for EAMCET 2006 and the notification and detailed procedures would be issued on June 28, according to Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Chairman K.C. Reddy here on Monday. The counselling would be held for filling 85,145 seats in 256 colleges in he State, he said, adding that the number of seats could increase depending on the All-India Council of Technical Education's (AICTE) decision on whether to grant permission for more seats in new colleges and institutions which had applied for additional seats. However, the State Government had written to the AICTE, saying that admissions could be given only to new seats sanctioned up to June 30.
