KARIMNAGAR: The dreams of Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Baddam Yella Reddy, the first parliamentarian of Karimnagar district, will be fulfilled on completion of the SRSP flood flow canal, Yellampalli (Sripadasagar) and Mid Manair Dam (MMD) projects and by providing additional ayacut in the district. Speaking after unveiling the bronze statue of Mr. Yella Reddy on the Karimnagar bypass road, on the outskirts of town on Monday, Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said keeping in mind the vision of Mr. Yella Reddy all efforts would be made to provide additional ayacut with the completion of irrigation projects in the district. Lauding the services of the late CPI leader who fought against the British and waged a war against the Nizam, he promised to allocate five acres for the memorial of Mr. Yella Reddy in the district. Minister for Sports M. Satyanarayana Rao said Mr. Yella Reddy was instrumental in organising Andhra Maha Sabha in Karimnagar. Nalgonda MP Suvaram Sudhakar Reddy also recollected his services for the late leader.
`Proud moment'
CPI floor leader in the Assembly Chada Venkat Reddy said it was a proud moment to have the statue of Mr. Rella Reddy unveiled on the occasion of his birth centenary celebrations.
