This Day That Age
The Burmese Prime Minister, U Nu, announced at a press conference in Rangoon on June 5 that he was not standing for re-election as Premier. He named his Defence Minister, U Ba Swe, as his successor. The 49-year-old Premier first made known his decision to the newly-elected Members of Parliament belonging to the ruling Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League.
