PMC to go it alone

Special Correspondent

"Experience has taught us to avoid alliance," says Kannan

Pondicherry: The Puduchery Munnetra Congress (PMC), which had obtained the Election Commission's State-level recognition last week, would go it alone in the civic polls in the Union Territory, according to the founder of the party P. Kannan.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Kannan said that the party would field its candidates in the civic polls in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions only. He admitted that the party had no foothold in Mahe and Yanam. Pondicherry and Oulgaret have two municipalities and there is one in Karaikal. There are 10 commune panchayats in Pondicherry and Karaikal besides the village panchayats. The PMC would field candidates in all the wards in these two districts.
