Pondicherry: The announcement by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in New Delhi on Monday asserting the continuation of the pre-poll arrangement of the Congress extending unconditional support to DMK from outside comes as a virtual relief to Rangasamy-led Congress Government in Pondy. For, there would be no room for the DMK in Pondicherry to raise the demand for power sharing. The Congress on its own has 10 members in the Assembly and has formed a minority government with the outside support of the DMK, the lone CPI member and the two-member PMK. The DMK has since been conferred the status of Opposition and its legislature party leader A.M.H. Nazeem has been recognised as the Opposition leader.
