Plane makes emergency landing
Special Correspondent
Kolkata:
An anonymous call made to the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International airport here, saying that a bomb had been planted in a Kolkata-bound Air Deccan aircraft from Port Blair, turned out to be a hoax on Tuesday morning. The aircraft landed safely and all 190 passengers were reported safe.
Immediately after landing around 11.50 a.m., the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay and the passengers were allowed to leave after their baggage were checked. Personnel of the bomb disposal squad inspected the aircraft. Sources in the airport said the airport authorities received the call around 9.35 a.m. Necessary arrangements were made for the emergency landing and ambulances and fire tenders were put on alert.
