The Hindu EducationPlus to organise counselling sessions

These will be held in Bangalore, Dharwad, Mangalore and Gulbarga

Bangalore: The Hindu EducationPlus guidance sessions for those aspiring to get into professional courses, either through the Common Entrance Test (CET) or the test conducted by COMED-K (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka), will be held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bangalore on June 7.

The session is aimed at helping students understand the admission process, the potential of various courses, what the industry is looking for and how to prepare for the challenges ahead.

The programme will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The speakers will include K. Dinesh, founder director, Infosys Technologies; Sivaraman Kumar, executive secretary, COMED-K, and Principal and Dean, M.S. Ramaiah Medical College; C. Murali, chairman, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Bangalore, and head of the Department of Electronics, MSRIT; K.Raghothama Rao, vice-president, Human Networking Academy; and Syed Jamal, administrative officer, CET Cell.

Gulbarga

The counselling event in Gulbarga will be held on June 10 at Doddappa Appa Sabha Mantapa Sharana Basaveshwar Residential School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The speakers at the session will include P.S. Shankar, member of National Board of Examination and medical director of Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College, Gulbarga; V.D. Mytri, member of the Senate and Executive Council of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum; G.K. Purohit, head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering; and B. Kagesan, special officer of VTU.

Dharwad

The event in Dharwad will be held on Sunday at Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Kala Bhavan, Jubilee Circle.

The panellists for the Dharwad session are Alka Kulkarni, special officer (Academic), VTU; Ashok Shettar, principal, B.V. Bhoomraddi Engineering College; C. Bhasker Rao, principal, SDM college of Dental Sciences and Hospital; and Niranjan Kumar, medical director of SDM College of Medical and Dental Sciences.

Mangalore

The speakers at the Mangalore session are Sanjeev Rai, dean, Father Muller's Medical College; Srinivas Kakkilaya, professor, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy; and Alka Kulkarni, special officer (Academic), VTU, Belgaum.

The Hindu EducationPlus will provide the students a handbook by academicians on a few engineering courses.
