Office-bearers elected

KOLLAM: B. Harikumar and P. Madhavan Nair have been elected president and secretary respectively of the Anchukallumoodu Vidya Nagar Residents Association. The other office-bearers are K. KOTTAYAM: An autorikshaw driver, identified as Shiju (28) of Kalayalamkunnel House, at Vallakkadavu, near Kattappana, was killed in a road accident in Dindigul on Tuesday, according to reports reaching here. — Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: An autorikshaw driver from Kattappana was killed in a road accident in Dindigul in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Tuesday, according to reports reaching here. The deceased has been identified as Shiju (28) of Kalayalamkunnel House at Vallakkadavu, near Kattappana, in Idukki district. Three others were injured in the accident. — Staff Reporter

Woman hacked to death

THRISSUR: A 73-year old woman was hacked to death at her house in Moonnumuri, near Vellikkulangara in the district, on Tuesday evening. The police said the deceased has been identified as Kumbalapparambil Suseela, who is the wife of late Narayanan. The assailant had decamped with some gold ornaments and other valuable items from the house. However, the exact value of properties lost was yet to be estimated, the police said. — Staff Reporter

Held for murder

THRISSUR: A 37-year-old woman, Andal, wife of Subbarayan from Pondicherry, was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of murder. The police said she had murdered a 43-year old man, Rajendran, by hitting him on the head with a stone. The body of the deceased was recovered in a mutilated condition on Monday. — Staff Reporter
