KOLLAM: The Bharatiya Janatha Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has called upon the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to withdraw the hike in prices of petrol and diesel. In a statement, BJYM State G. Hari said that this was the fifth time the UPA Government hiked the price of petroleum products. He said that the hike was an anti-people move, which will considerably affect the common man. The Government should have reduced the customs and excise duties to hold the price. He alleged that hike exposes the hide-and-seek game played by the Congress and the CPI(M). In a separate statement, the Kerala NGO Sangh called for the withdrawal of the hike. The State president of the sangh, M.S. Shyamkumar, said that through the hike the UPA Government with Left parties' support was fleecing the common man.
