Easy win for Faizan HS

HYDERABAD: Faizan High School scored a 56-run win over Vijayanand Cricket Academy in the C. Umesh Chandra Memorial cricket tournament here.

The scores: Faizan HS 158 for eight in 25 overs (Sumit Chahar 77, Love 58) bt Vijayanand CA 102 for five.

Susai Srs in semifinals

Susai Seniors scored a 4-2 win over Bolarum Sporting to enter the semifinals of the MCH-Secunderabad Bicentennary Celebrations football tournament here.

Robin, Mantri, Khanna and Gopi scored for the winner, while Bibangar and Naveen were on target for the losing side.

In the semifinals on Wednesday, SCR will take on Shastry Club, while Susai Sr. meets AOC Centre.

In the hockey tournament, Youth League recorded an emphatic 5-1 win over Coronation Club with Krupakar netting three goals and Madhu and George Logun one each. For the loser, the consolation goal came through Sanjay Kumar.

SAAP camps end

The annual summer coaching camps, conducted by the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, concluded at the SAAP Tennis Complex here on Tuesday. About 2000 children attended these camps in twin cities alone at 37 centres. SAAP had appointed 35 regular coaches besides 105 assistant coaches to monitor the camps.

Handball trials

Hyderabad District Handball Association will organise selection trials for junior girls (under-19) at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on June 7 and 8 to pick the district team for the 29th junior inter-district meet in Kurnool from June 12 to 14. Interested should report to the coaches concerned at the venue in the morning.

Subbamma wins gold

B.V. Subbamma, director of SAAP and veteran athlete, won gold in the all-India masters athletics meet in Pondicherry in hammer throw with an effort of 15.73m. She also finished second in discus with 13.68m in the 70 years & above category. She is a former Railway employee.

State Police meet

The 40th Andhra Pradesh police sports and games meet will be inaugurated by the Governor, Rameshwar Thakur, in Visakhapatnam, on Wednesday.

Seven territorial Ranges, a city Range (Hyderabad), three AP Special Police Ranges and four Special Ranges are some of the 17 teams participating, the Commissioner of Police, V.S.K. Kaumudi, said at a press conference at Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

Competitions would be held in basketball, football, handball, hockey, kabaddi, volleyball, boxing, gymnastics, judo, swimming, water sports, weightlifting, wrestling and athletics in 12 venues in the city, including the Mudasarlova reservoir where the water sports would be held.

The Eastern Naval Command was extending his support by providing its gymnasium and Satavahana Stadium to organise some events.

VDCA teams

The Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association selected three teams to participate in its zonal tournament for the D.Ch. Tirupathi Raju memorial trophy to be held from June 9 to 18.
