`Bangalore has benefited from IBM'

Special Correspondent

`My government will extent all support to innovation'

  • What is good for IBM is good for Bangalore
  • Infosys has done Karnataka proud
  • These people have made a difference to their own lives and those of others
  • The Government's efforts alone cannot generate innovation

Bangalore: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday acknowledged that Bangalore had benefited from IBM, which he described as a "truly global knowledge enterprise".

Speaking at the Innovation and Leadership Forum organised here by the company, he said: "What is good for IBM is good for Bangalore. This city is home to many knowledge institutions.''

The Chief Minister said the information technology company's success formula, and the synergy between education, innovation and manufacturing programmes make it a good subject for research.

"Bangalore is home to a large number of knowledge intensive institutions, and the environment encourages innovation and creativity. Recently, I visited Infosys Technologies and found what they have achieved is something worth emulating. Infosys has done Karnataka and every Kannadiga proud. The experience of N.R. Narayana Murthy and his colleagues has become a fable of knowledge entrepreneurship,'' Mr. Kumaraswamy said. "These people, in their own ways, have made a difference to their own lives and those of others. Creative persons stand out from the rest of us. Their contributions affect large groups and move organisations towards a better tomorrow,'' he said. The Government, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, was conscious that "our attempts alone cannot generate innovation". "It will come from you, not only the knowledge sector but also those working in agricultural fields and shop floors of manufacturing industries."
