Poll notification by June 12

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh High Court was informed on Tuesday that notification for elections for local bodies was to be issued by June 12. This information was placed before the Bench in response to a question raised by the Division Bench on Monday. The Court later adjourned the case to June 9.

The Bench was hearing two sets of petitions -- one pertaining to providing reservation for Backward Classes and the other regarding delimitation of various constituencies and additions and deletions to the voters list.

The Government informed the court that all the objections were looked into though the statute did not provide for it. The Government was directed to file a counter affidavit in the cases pertaining to reservations and applying of creamy layer for BCs . This counter affidavit would be filed by Thursday and the case taken up for hearing on Friday.
