`NCC helps in bringing out hidden talent in students'

CONFIDENCE BUILDING: Lt. Col. S.K. Divakara Naidu, Commanding Officer of the 20 Karnataka Bn. NCC, addressing cadets at the combined annual NCC training camp in Shimoga on Tuesday.

SHIMOGA: The Commanding Officer of the 20 Karnataka Battalion NCC, Lt. Col. S.K. Divakara Naidu, said here on Tuesday that the NCC played an important role in bringing out the hidden talent in students.

He was addressing cadets at the combined annual NCC camp of junior and senior divisions of Shimoga district being held at the Sahyadri College from June 2. Talent in many students did not come out as they suffered from an inferiority complex, he said, adding that NCC camps would go a long way in helping the youth become confident.

He said that the NCC taught the students discipline and co-existence.

Career in military services

Lt. Col Naidu said that participation in NCC activities would not only help students get reservation in education and job opportunities but also those who wanted a career in military services.

He said that it was decided to impart training to cadets in English by holding special classes during the camp. Training in rifle use and physical exercises were being taken up on a priority basis, he said

NCC officers N. Pavitran and V.G. Chandrasekhar were present.
