Lord Govindaraja dons `Mohini Avataram'

Staff Reporter

DIVINE SPLENDOUR: The deity of Lord Govindaraja in `Mohini Avataram' is taken out in a palanquin as part of the annual Brahmotsavams in Tirupati on Tuesday.

TIRUPATI : Lord Govindaraja was taken round town in the guise of a woman seated on a palanquin on Tuesday as part of `Mohini Avataram' conducted during the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams at the temple.

The bejewelled deity of the Lord had all the features to look like a woman, including an attractive silk sari, a parrot in hand and a black spot (to ward away `drishti' or the evil eye) on the cheek. The event was meant to highlight the rightful share of woman in Nature in the religion.
