YSR to lay stone for Singur canal

Project will be completed in two years' time

Sangareddy: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajsekhara Reddy will lay the foundation for the right and left canals of Singur on Wednesday in Pulkal mandal.

The project named after late Baga Reddy is taken up at a cost of Rs. 88.99 crores and will be completed in two years' time. According to K. Buchaiah the executive engineer of Irrigation department here the left canal, which is of 48 km in length, will cater to 37,500 acres of land in 51 villages and the right canal of 12 km will cater to 2,500 acres in 6 villages. The Chief Minister, who will arrive at Singur village at 2 p.m. will also launch six other development works like Singur-Tangedupalli high-level bridge and Singur road widening in Pulkal mandal. Considering the chance of a downpour, a rainproof dais and tent has been arranged by the district administration.

The district Collector B. Venkatesam and SP P.V. Sunil Kumar have personally supervised the preparations.
