State releases 25 per cent funds under ACDP

Staff Reporter

First instalment of Rs. 4.75 crores released

GUNTUR: State Government has released 25 per cent of the funds for Assembly Constituency Development Programme (ACDP) under which an additional Rs.50 lakhs has been placed at the disposal of the district in-charge Minister.

The Government has released Rs.4.75 crores as first instalment to Guntur district, but there were not many proposals coming forward from MLAs to take up works immediately.

There was no restriction on the type of works to be taken up unlike last financial year and with additional funds to be approved by District Review Committee at its general body meeting, the legislators were in an upbeat mood.

The MLAs of Duggirala, Narsaraopet, Sattenapalli and TDP MLA of Ponnuru got their respective portions of an additional sum of Rs.50 lakhs sanctioned at the last DRC meeting on May 31.

The legislators from Bapatla, Ponnuru, Chilakaluripet and Vemuru had submitted proposals for taking up works under their quota of Rs.50 lakhs.

The works mostly pertained to construction of community halls and laying of new roads from the additional Rs.50 lakhs. The Panchayat Raj is the executing agency for many works.

According to the May 27 G O, individuals do not get benefit out of the decentralized development programme ACDP. The Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes would benefit at least 16 per cent and 6.6 per cent out of these funds.
