VISAKHAPATNAM: Growing traffic has been making driving a difficult task. Jumping signals, speeding and wrong parking are some of the problems faced by those driving vehicles. Stray cattle are compounding the problem. Action taken by the authorities is hardly proving a deterrent. Stray cattle found on the road are confined to the Municipal Corporation's pound in the One Town area, a fine of Rs. 300 is imposed and they are let off. But it has been found that the action is not spurring owners of cattle to restrain them. City Veterinary Officer N. Karunakar Rao says stringent punishment is required to deal with the problem. Increasing the fine and confiscating the animals if the problem becomes chronic are being considered.
