Experts in the field had gathered at Munnar for the third annual conference of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI), Kerala Chapter.
Of those affected by deformities, 80 per cent are men who met with accidents while driving two-wheelers.
The experts said that new techniques and technology was available in the country to take care of such deformities.
Presenting his paper, surgeon Moni Abraham Kuriakose said that oral cancers due to chewing tobacco were on the rise, compared to cancers due to smoking.

The organising committee chairman of the conference, Varghese Mani, said that a seminar to create awareness on correcting facial deformities would be held soon.
