KOCHI: Former Health Minister K.K. Ramachandran has denied that he had anything to do with former Health Director P.K. Rajan, who had been charged with allegedly swindling public money running into crores of rupees. At a news conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Ramachandran, who had to step down as Health Minister in the Oommen Chandy Cabinet under a cloud of allegations of irregularities, said the charge that he had tried to reinstate Dr. Rajan was mischievous. DIC Left Forum chairman M.A. John had recently called for an investigation against Mr. Ramachandran as he allegedly had tried to reinstate Dr. Rajan. Mr. Ramchandran said that when he took over as Health Minister, Dr. Rajan was under suspension and was facing a Vigilance probe. However, when the probe was over and the Vigilance report had recommended Dr. Rajan's reinstatement, he as Minister had returned the file with a noting that `returned without order.' He said he had never tried to reinstate Dr. Rajan.
Willing to face probe
He claimed that his conscience was clear and that he was willing to face any investigation. That was why he had called for a probe by the CBI or by a High Court judge into the charges that had been levelled against him while being a Minister.
