Rs.48.5 crores invested on 69 lift irrigation schemes

Irrigation provided to 39, 919 acres of land

VIJAYAWADA: Executive engineer of Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Development Corporation Vijayawada region M.V.S. Ranga Rao on Tuesday said that irrigation was provided to 39,919 acres of land in Krishna district by spending Rs.48.5 crores on 69 lift irrigation schemes.

In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that 11 lift irrigation schemes would be completed during the year 2006-07, which would provide irrigation to 17,291 acres of land.

The State Government would be spending Rs. 30.49 crores on the schemes.

Andhra.Pradesh Transco would provide Rs. 2.9 crores for power generation at 27 lift irrigation schemes and the power would be used to irrigate an extent of 4,000 acres.
