Police vehicle detained

Thiruvananthapuram: A 50-member group on Tuesday detained a police team that went in search of those responsible for the attack on a probationary Sub-Inspector of Police near Karickakom Devi temple in April. According to the police, the group prevented Sub-Inspector of Police (Pettah) M. Prasad from searching the area for the eight youth who had assaulted S. Ramesh of the Kollam Crime Branch. The incident occurred around 10.30 a.m.

The police have registered a case against Subramanyam Chettiar in connection with the incident.

Mr. Ramesh was beaten up when he cautioned a local youth who tried to force his way through a group of women passengers who were alighting from a KSRTC bus.

Man killed in accident

Surendran Pillai, 43, an employee of Bharath Sanchar Nigam Ltd, was killed when the bike on which he was riding pillion collided against the rear of a KSRTC bus near the Legislative Assembly complex on Tuesday.
