BANGALORE: Two persons, including a software engineer, were killed and one person was injured when a call centre vehicle collided with a water tanker near Command Hospital on Airport Road early Tuesday morning. The victims, Harsha Hegde (23), a software engineer based in Marathahalli, and the car driver, Rajesh Kumar (32), who were seriously injured in the accident., later died at hospital. Kumar was a resident of Basaveshwaranagar and Harsha was a native of Sirsi. The injured, Madanlal (23) was also shifted to Mallya hospital. He was employed as a security guard in a software firm in the city. The driver of the water tanker abandoned the vehicle and escaped. The Ulsoor Traffic police registered a case and removed the debris of the mishap-hit vehicles from the Airport Road quickly as the President was to travel by the road a few hours later.
Killed
Kodandarama Shastry (72) died after he accidentally fell off a moped in the Jayanagar police station limits on Monday evening. The two-wheeler had skidded off the road at a stretch scattered with sand near a private nursing home. A seriously wounded Shastry was admitted to St. John's hospital, where he was declared dead at around 4 a.m. on Tuesday.
Honesty
A retired Fisheries Department engineer, Ramakumar Vasudeva Thodur, was commended for his honesty by Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh after he deposited a gold necklace worth about Rs. 25,000 that he had found in a train compartment. Mr. Thodur had found the valuable on his way back from Hubli by the Chennamma Express on Sunday.
Man arrested
The City Crime Branch police arrested Imran (24), who was allegedly trying to sell ganja on 13th main, 17th cross, Devaraja Urs Nagar in the J.J. Nagar police station limits on Monday.
