Man arrested with heroin
The accused, Sachin Arora, is a resident of Amritsar. He was arrested by the headquarters division of the DRI. During interrogation, Sachin allegedly disclosed that he had brought the consignment to sell it to a Nigerian national here in Delhi. Investigations revealed that the contraband had been smuggled into the country through the Indo-Pakistan border along Punjab, which is considered to be a common route for heroin trade.
Passport Adalat on June 10
Applicants should send details of their pending applications to the RPO Delhi not later than June 8, 2006. On June 10, applicants may attend the adalat with all documents, objection and call letters if any issued by the RPO along with original documents pertaining to proof of age, present address and self-attested photocopies of the same. Five held for running coin melting factory
Coins of various denominations weighing 530 kg, 18 moulded bricks each weighing 32 kg, as well as tools etc used in the illegal process were seized from them during a raid on Monday evening.
Sukh Ram's petition dismissed
While dismissing the petition, Justice Madan B Lokur and Justice Vipin Sanghi observed that it was not possible to reappreciate the evidence, particularly when the assessee had not been able to show any perversity in the order passed by the Tribunal.
