PONDICHERRY: The Principal Sessions Judge M. Chinnapandi on Wednesday posted the hearing in the Kanchi Sankararaman murder case to July 19. This follows a Supreme Court order staying further proceedings in the case till the second week of July. The Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi had petitioned the Supreme Court questioning the appearance of Tamil Nadu Government-appointed Special Public Prosecutors in the case. When the case came up for hearing, the five public prosecutors appointed by the Tamil Nadu Government were not present in the court. Only the defence advocates led by Lakshmana Reddiar were present. Five of the accused including the two Seers were not present. One of the defence counsels Solomon Francis sought a copy of the retraction statement of Kathiravan since his client was entitled for a copy. To this the court said that it did not have the copy and that it would look into the matter.
