Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to start centre in Bellary

LKG and UKG classes will begin on June 14

BELLARY: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has decided to start a full-fledged kendra in Bellary and impart education from LKG to degree and also professional courses.

The Bellary kendra will start LKG and UKG classes from June 14 and other classes later in a phased manner.

Temporarily, the nursery schools will be started in a rented building near the fire station here.

First phase

A building, estimated to cost around Rs. 10 crore, will be built on three acres of land donated by family members of G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, with all facilities, including hostels. The first phase is expected to be completed in about two years, according to H.N. Suresh, Director, Programmes and Projects, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bangalore. He told presspersons here on Wednesday that a committee comprising prominent personalities of Bellary had been formed to manage the affairs of the Bellary kendra.

Office-bearers

P. Radhakrishna Rao is the chairman and Pola Radhakrishna is the secretary. Allum Gurubasavaraj and C.N. Gupta (both vice-chairmen), Agadi Siddeshwar (treasurer), S.K. Modi, Jayaprakash Gupta, B.V. Srinivas Reddy, N. Prakash, B. Thimma Reddy, T.H. Suresh Babu are the other members. H.R. Vageesh Kumar is the coordinator.
