Hyderabad drubs Karimnagar

HYDERABAD : Hyderabad drubbed Karimnagar 15-0 in the inaugural match of the State-level assessment hockey tournament (under-16), organised by SAAP, at Gachibowli Complex here on Wednesday.

G. Santosh Kumar, Aravind (four goals each), M. Ravi Kumar, S. Abhinav Reddy (two each), M. Rohit, J.E. Sai Kiran and M. Kalyan (one each) were the scorers.

Other results: East Godavari 2 (Mastan, K. Siva Kumar) bt Ranga Reddy 0; Krishna 1 (Shaikh Firdaus) drew with Visakhapatnam 1 (Lokesh).

Chittoor wins title

Chittoor shocked defending champion Kadapa 3-1 via the tie-breaker in the final of the fourth AP Sub-junior inter-district women's hockey championship in Vedurukuppam mandal, according to information received here. The teams were locked one-all at the end of full time.

Custodian G.K. Rajani was the star saving three goals in the tie-breaker for the winner, who picked up Rs. 4000. The runner-up got Rs. 2500. Mamatha of Ongole was rated `Best Player' and P. Mounik `Most Promising'.

Big win for SCR

South Central Railway scored a 6-0 win against Shastry Club in the Secunderabad bi-centenary celebrations football tournament here. Alfred and Sridhar struck twice each while Azeem and Nidhi once each.

In another match, AOC defeated Susai Sr 2-1 with Prakash and Santosh netting for the winner while Thapa reduced the margin.

In the hockey tournament, South Central Railway defeated AOC Centre 3-1 in the semifinals. Amit Shrivas, Mayur and Prabhakar Singh found the target for the winner while Topono scored for the loser.

Easy for St. Antony

St. Antony High School scored a 66 run win against Dayanand Cricket Academy in the fifth, C. Umesh Chandra memorial (under-16) cricket tournament at Faizan High School Grounds (Bowenpally) here.

The scores:

St. Antony HS 153 for six in25 overs (Venkatesh 63, Navneeth three for 15) bt Dayanand CA 87 (Abhiram four for 30).

Rising Star 94 (Bhanu 39, S. Jay three for 15, Chintoo three for 12) lost to NRCA 96 for seven (Hussain 47).

Yellu Bai wins

Yellu Bai of Aakanksha clinched honours in the girls (15 to 18 years) 100m event of the MCH disabled sports meet organised to commemorate Secunderabad bicentenary celebrations here.

Powerlifting meet

The Hyderabad District Powerlifting Association will organise the senior and sub-junior championship on June 17 at Lal Bahadur Stadium. The district team to take part in the Inter-district meet in Visakhapatnam from July 8 to 9 will be selected.

Volleyball camp

The AP Volleyball Association will organise a coaching camp at Musheerabad Playground from June 10 to 27 for the following probables:

Men: Ravikanth Reddy, Kiran Reddy, Raj Kumar, Ravinder Reddy, Jameeluddin, Sashidhar, Anwar, Sashidhar Reddy, Kasiviswanath, Raja, Dhananjay and Ajay Reddy. Women: Anitha, Rajini, Nalini, Ashia Shaikh, Kanakalakshmi and Sreelatha. Coach: Md Ghouse.

Easy for Hyderabad Globe

Hyderabad Globe scored a 3-1 win over Central Excise in the A-Division Rahim league football championship at the Railway grounds here on Wednesday.

Mohd. Saleh struck in the 15th minute for Globe only to see Richard score the equaliser within five minutes for Excise. However, in the second session, Saleh and Nizamuddin scored one goal each for Globe to seal the rival's fate.
