Chetan posts win

Singapore: The Indian quartet of Chetan Anand, Anup Sridhar, J.B.S. Vidyadhar and P. Kashyap cleared the first hurdle in the men's singles event even though Arvind Bhatt and Anand Pawar fell by the wayside in the Singapore Open badminton championships here on Wednesday.

The results:

Men: Chetan Anand bt Sheng-Shiun Liao 23-25, 21-9, 21-13; J.B.S. Vidyadhar bt Scott Evans 21-15, 21-16; Anup Sridhar bt Dicky Palyama 30-28, 21-17; P. Kashyap bt Salim Sameon 21-17, 21-16; Bjoern Joppien bt Arvind Bhatt 21-19, 16-21, 21-11; Juergen Koch bt Anand Pawar 21-17, 21-12.

Women: doubles: Petya Nedeltcheva and Diana Dimova bt Aditi Mutatkar and Sayali Gokhale 21-8, 21-9. — UNI
