Rice distribution: control room becomes active

Coimbatore: The control room set up at the District Supply Office with the phone number 2300569 for streamlining rice distribution through the Public Distribution System has become very active with 47 calls received in a week.

A release from the District Collector, Neeraj Mittal, said that the public were informing the authorities about problems faced by them in the rice distribution. All anomalies had been immediately rectified, he said. From June 3 to till date, 5,043 tonnes of rice had been distributed to 3.76 lakh PDS cardholders at Rs. 2 a kg, the release added.
