PALAKKAD: Officers and employees of Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) Limited at Kanjikode will undertake a day's fast before the company on June 12 demanding that Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) restore the quota (30 per cent) of its orders for ITI withdrawn recently. The Joint Action Committee of ITI officers and employees said in a statement here on Thursday that the quotas on orders from Central public sector companies and departments had been sanctioned by the Government to help public sector companies such as ITI to survive competitions from multinational companies. The withdrawal of the quota will affect the very survival of companies such as ITI which are already facing crises and shortage of orders.
