HYDERABAD: An investment to the tune of Rs.1,800 crore is proposed for setting up two uranium mining and milling plants in Nalgonda and Kadapa districts in Andhra Pradesh, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission Anil Kakodkar said here on Thursday. Talking to reporters after participating in a function to mark the Nuclear Fuel Complex Day, he said the Nalgonda plant would be established as soon as the environmental and forest clearances were received. A site selection committee had looked at several sites in Andhra Pradesh for setting up a nuclear reactor but no decision had been taken yet. Pointing out that uranium reserves in the country were sufficient to meet nuclear energy requirements up to 10,000 MW, he said that another uranium mining plant was planned in Meghalaya.
