BANGALORE: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Thursday criticised former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, and alleged he was seeking publicity by taking credit for programmes launched by the Government headed by his son H.D. Kumaraswamy. According to the KPCC, the Congress had initiated most of the programmes for which the Janata Dal (Secular) was claiming credit. Mr. Deve Gowda, who opposed programmes taken up by the coalition of the Congress and the Janata Dal (S) in letters to former Chief minister N. Dharam Singh, was now claiming that the Government headed by Mr. Kumaraswamy was implementing them.
Loans to farmers
He had said loans were being extended to farmers at an interest rate of four per cent, KPCC general secretaries M. Ramachandrappa and Prakash K. Rathod, and secretaries A. Kenche Gowda and P.M. Ashok alleged in a statement. They said that in his recent public address in Lucknow, Mr. Deve Gowda had appreciated the policies of the Government of the Janata Dal (S) and the Bharatiya Janata Party, and criticised those of the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre. Mr. Deve Gowda became Prime Minister with the support of the Congress, they said. Instead of criticising Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the policies of the Centre, he should learn lessons from the UPA Government on how to run the administration, the leaders added.
