Man poses as SI, steals cash

VIJAYAWADA: A man impersonated a police sub-inspector and stole Rs. 1 lakh cash from a bank officer at Governorpet on Thursday.

The police said that Maddala Sundara Rao (41), came to the bankto deposit Rs. 3.5 lakhs. A man introduced himself as an SI in incognito and asked him to open the cash bag. Mr. Rao did so.

After checking the bag, he returned it to Mr. Rao. who later opened it in the bank only to find that Rs. 1 lakh was missing.
