BANGALORE: As many as 6,508 candidates have scored above 50 per cent marks in the physics, chemistry and mathematics papers of the Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K). The final rank list will be out on June 14. However, as the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has not stipulated the minimum score in the common entrance test for admission to engineering courses, COMED-K will assign engineering ranks to all those who had scored at least 45 per cent marks in the II PU or equivalent examination. But the rank list will be based only on the UGET scores, COMED-K Executive Secretary S. Kumar told The Hindu. In all, 9,044 candidates have become eligible for MBBS and BDS seats, having scored above 50 per cent marks in the physics, chemistry and biology papers. Both the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India (DCI) had ruled that the candidates should get at least 50 per cent marks in both the II PU/equivalent examination and the common entrance test. Of the candidates who secured more than 50 per cent marks in PCM, 1,470 were from outside the State and 5,038 from Karnataka. As many as 362 students were from Bihar alone. Of the high scoring candidates in PCB, 4,125 were from Karnataka and 4,919 from outside the State. The scores of all the candidates have been hosted on the website http://www.comedk.org. The candidates have been provided three days to challenge or to seek clarification of the scores. The final rank list will be notified thereafter.
