Nigerian arrested with cocaine

NEW DELHI: A Nigerian national has been arrested by the Narcotics Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly possessing cocaine.

Acting on a tip-off about the suspect, a Narcotics Branch team had laid a trap near Qutab Hotel on Wednesday evening. The suspect, later identified as Albert Mashaba Barnard alias Tony, was arrested around 6 p.m. The police recovered 22 gm of cocaine from his possession.

During interrogation, Albert, a native of Lagos in Nigeria, allegedly confessed to having been involved in drug deals for the past many months. Chief IO of Shivani case deposes

NEW DELHI: The Chief Investigation Officer of Shivani murder case on Thursday informed a city court that he had attached the Gurgaon house of suspended IPS officer R K Sharma, the prime accused, as he was evading arrest after the issuance of non-bailable warrant against him.

Deposing as 203rd prosecution witness, Inder Singh, who was entrusted with the investigation of the case on June 18, 2002, stated before Additional Sessions Judge Rajender Kumar that he along with Inspector Raj Singh had sealed Sharma's Gurgaon house.

Hearing of petition adjourned

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has adjourned the hearing of the petition seeking direction to the authorities to initiate action against the CBI officials, who were allegedly involved in accepting bribe during investigation of the multi-crore housing scam in the Capital.

After the preliminary hearing, acting Chief Justice Vijender Jain said as the companion Judge was on leave, the matter would be heard after the summer vacations on July 7.

Tanker at petrol pump catches fire

NEW DELHI: A tanker parked at a petrol pump caught fire at Rajokri area in South West Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

The fire, which was reported at 3.15 p.m., was quickly brought under control and did not spread to the petrol pump's underground tanks, the Fire Brigade said.

Six tenders were needed to control the fire.

No one was injured in the incident.
